Ribbon Cutting Planned for Monsoon Lagoon the Watering Hole Safari & Water Park

Port Clinton Ohio – Join Us for a Ribbon Cutting Celebrating Monsoon Lagoon The Watering Hole Safari & Water Park on Tuesday, June 21st at 5pm

Local business owners, Bill Coburn and Alan Jacoby,  recently purchased Monsoon Lagoon with plans to transform the park to the Watering Hole Safari and Water Park. They have already added a Safari Park where you can get up close to many kinds of over 500 animals including but not limited to giraffes, camels, kangaroos, zebra, goats, porcupines, and a parakeet exhibit. They offer a junior zookeeper program that allows children to feed and walk the animals as well as clean up after them.

Many renovations and upgrades have already started at the swim up tiki bar including cabanas with flat screen televisions to rent. It’s suggested that you book the cabanas early in order to ensure a reservation. Their long term goal is to invest millions of dollars into this project making it a year round entertainment option and revitalize this prime location and provide Ohio and the community with another successful attraction for adults and children alike.

Lake Erie Shores and Islands has listed Monsoon Lagoon Watering Hole as one of a “new must do’s” this summer! The Regional Chambers of Commerce and local people of the area are excited with the implementation of the new owner’s plans and commitment to invest in this project!

Monsoon Lagoon The Watering Hole Safari & Water Park is located at 1530 S. Danbury Road, Port Clinton…. Hope to see you there!

Ribbon Cutting Scheduled for Bistro 163

The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Port Clinton are pleased to announce the opening of Bistro 163, a non-profit, pay-it-forward restaurant located in the Sutton Center City / County Complex (formerly known as Common Grounds) located at 1848 E Perry Street at the corner of Buckeye Blvd.  The Port Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Monday, June 20th at 10:30am. All are welcome.

The mission of Bistro 163 is to increase food security and offer all neighbors a place to eat and come together as one community. Patrons are encouraged to pay more than the suggested menu price to help others enjoy a meal.  If someone cannot pay for their meal, they may volunteer one hour in exchange for their meal.  More than 47% of Port Clinton students are eligible for reduced or free lunches, due to their family’s low income level.  Often parents go without meals, or can only afford unhealthy meals.  It is the hope of Bistro 163 that the citizens of Ottawa County who have the means to help the food insecure, will do so.  Bistro 163 will attract customers by offering fresh, locally sourced meals at a reasonable cost with a high quality of service that will bring them back again and again.

“We believe that the “pay it forward” concept will be compelling for the many fortunate people in our community, and that by staffing with volunteers (as does Portage Resale) and having Executive Chef Stacy Maple design an amazing menu of fresh meals, made from scratch, we can provide another piece of the hunger puzzle in Ottawa County,” says board vice president Mary Caracci.  There are three important ways that residents may contribute – by eating at Bistro 163, by volunteering in the restaurant, or by making a tax deductible contribution.  Contact Bistro 163 today if you would like to help, at info@bistro163.org!

There are more than 50 “community cafe” restaurants around the country, offering a “hand up” rather than a “hand out”.  Just recently, CBS television news featured Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Kitchen, a pay-it-forward restaurant on the Jersey Shore.  According to Mary, “Our mentors at One Bistro in Miamisburg Ohio, and Mosaics in Bartow Florida, tell us that often the people who come in to volunteer for an hour in return for a meal, stay for the whole shift. They are grateful for the sense of community as much as for the healthy food they could not otherwise afford.”

Bistro 163 is a non-profit, pay-it-forward restaurant located in the Sutton Center City/County Complex (formerly known as Common Grounds), 1848 E Perry Street at the Corner of Buckeye Blvd., phone 419.734.9887.  Bistro 163 opened to the community on Monday, June 6th, serving lunch on weekdays from 11:00 until 2:00.  On Saturday morning, brunch will be served from 8:00 until 2:00.
